The longer story

David is not your 'average' personal trainer. He didn't become a personal trainer because he 'loved' working out or he had a passion for athletics. Quite the opposite: he was skinny, short, weak, frail, and lacked any iota of self-confidence.

He wasn't an athlete. His passion is not, and never was, sports. He tried sports in high school, but those endeavors failed miserably. On the other hand, he was good at one thing: video games. Unfortunately, he wasn't good enough to get paid playing them.

However, after he joined the U.S. Air Force and became a competent intelligence operator with fast typing and faster than average keyboard reflexes (thanks video games), his self-confidence improved and he started exercising.

Then in 2009, he volunteered to be a Physical Training Leader (PTL) in hopes of getting points for his upcoming promotion. Instead, he really enjoyed leading people through workout routines. He saw people getting stronger, faster, and healthier. He also realized that he's a 'people person'.

He didn't grasp the emotional and mental benefits of exercise just yet, but he didn't need to: he decided that he wanted to leave the military after his service contract ended, and enter the field of health and wellness.
